Durham Big Sing: Festival of Choirs

Festival of Choirs, Durham Big Sing, Saturday 17th May 2020
Sunday 17th May
10am - 5pm (with option for late arrival to shorten day)
Spectacular festival finale, aiming to bring together 1,000 voices from across the region & beyond!

Community Choirs from across the North East are invited to come and be part of Festival of Choirs, the final event of Durham Big Sing. This page includes all of the information you will need to attend as a choir.

For those who do not sing in a choir, or for people who want to attend even though their choir can't come, we will offer a limited  number of individual tickets, subject to availability.

If you are in a choir, please check whether your choir would like to attend together before booking as an individual singer.

Who can take part?

We welcome singers of all abilities & musical genres. You do not need to be part of a choir or already sing with a group to take part. The mix of voices is one of the magical aspects of the festival; enabling beginners to experience singing alongside more confident voices. Parts of the festival are open to young people but Festival of Choirs is for adults aged 16+.

The festival also offers a varied programme of other workshops and performances. Each event is booked separately so that singers can tailor their festival experience to suit them.

Is it accessible?

Durham Big Sing strives to include everyone and aims to break down barriers to taking part. Our inclusive, non-competitive events offer additional support to those with a wide range of accessibility needs, including those with limited mobility or those requiring seating at both indoor & outdoor locations.

You'll find everything you need to know about what is happening and when during the Festival of Choirs day.

We trialled busking last year, and the feedback from it was very positive. So, we’ve expanded the busking part of the day this year, with more slots available of variable performance length and more time available to enjoy listening to other choirs when not performing yourself.
