Durham Big Sing Postponed Until May 2021
Over the last few days we have been closely following the developing situation regarding the Corona Virus (COVID-19) and proactively assessing the ways in which it might impact Durham Big Sing. Our singers are always our top priority, and we have been considering their thoughts and feelings. After discussions with our team, partners and advisors, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the festival until May 2021.
Durham Big Sing 2020 was due to take place across 10 days and 12 venues in Durham City this May, with places for over 2000 singers. We know that this decision will be disappointing for our many supporters, especially those looking forward to taking part in this spectacular celebration of community singing.
We can assure you that we have not taken this decision lightly. A significant investment of time and money has already been made to realise our vision, however taking this step will protect the future of Durham Big Sing and our company. We are deeply touched by the love and support we have received from all corners of our community and couldn’t have come this far without you. We know that together we can come back stronger than ever in May 2021. In the meantime, we will continue our mission to make singing accessible to all and look forward to announcing more events for individuals and choirs in the coming months.
We still need your support!
We are really grateful for all the donations we have received through our crowdfunding campaign. Even though Durham Big Sing has been postponed until 2021, this money will still go towards our continued mission to make singing accessible for all. The Singing Elf Social Enterprise strives to include everyone by placing accessibility at the heart of everything we do. We welcome your donations to help us ensure that all future events, including Durham Big Sing 2021, strive to include everyone.
