Thanks to funding from Durham AAP we are able to offer variable ticket prices from £5 – £15 for everyone, without asking for reason or evidence from those needing support. Without funding, tickets would be £15 per person, so we ask you to contribute as much as you are able to help us continue to support others in future.

Accessibility
This is an inclusive activity suitable for most adults including those with hidden health conditions. There are no Health Warnings for this session. For most of this session you will be sat on a chair but there will be the option to stand or lie at times. There will be the opportunity to try gentle, slow movement from a standing or seated position. There’s also periods of meditation which you can do seated on a chair or mat, or lying on a mat. 

Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs during booking or email info@thesingingelf.co.uk to discuss any queries you might have. It’s also useful to tell us if you have a sensory sensitivity so that we can help prepare you before you attend and adapt anything that won’t be appropriate for you. We will be using relaxing, colourful, low lighting. There will be a range of sounds with a variety of different tones and vibrations. We will also be using aromatherapy oils/incense to help to create calming smells.

This venue has limited accessible parking so please let us know in advance if you require this. Step-free entrance and accessible toilet is available. Yoga mats are available to borrow if you don’t have your own but wish to lie down.

About the Qigong & Meditation
Join us to learn how to escape the world through mindfulness, including meditations on the theme of sound and the Chinese practice of Qigong which incorporates slow, gentle movements, similar to Tai Chi and breathing techniques. Qigong will calm our minds with guided meditation and will heal our souls with soothing sounds.

About the Session Leader
This month’s guest practitioner, Liz, offers inclusive Mindfulness sessions which are ideal for those trying it out for the first time or already practising. She first found mindfulness through a poster entitled “finding peace in a frantic world” and has since trained to help others find peace. Liz has been part of our Serenity Team since 2022 and is a Founding Director of her The Little Company of Calm Social Enterprise.

 

What do I need to bring?

During this session you will mainly be sat on a chair. There’s an option to stand during the movement and option to sit or lie on a mat during part of the session.

You’ll need to bring:

  • Big Cosy Blanket 
  • Comfortable Clothing and Shoes
  • Cushion/Pillow
  • Bottle of water
  • Eye mask or scarf to cover your eyes (optional)
  • Yoga Mat (optional)

What does it cost?
