£0.00£15.00

Tuesdays 7.30 – 9pm | 13th April – 18th May 2021
Cuppa & Natter from 7.15pm (plus tech support)

Voices of the Rainbow is an online project packed with fun, heart-warming songs that will put a smile on your face as part of the Rainbow Voices Project.

Our welcome weeks take place on Tuesday 13th, 20th & 27th April, and are open to anyone to try us out. The following weeks, on 4th, 11th & 18th May, are for those who attend at least one Welcome Week, or have previously attended any of our online singing sessions.

No commitment is required and sessions are FREE, although you can choose to make a donation when you book if you wish.

Our Tuesday sessions are hosted by Unity, our mixed-voice community choir for adults who love singing but aren’t sure if they can! We welcome singers of all abilities, including complete beginners. You don’t need any previous experience, you won’t be asked to sing on your own and you don’t have to join the choir to take part.

This session is funded by Sunderland City Council, and are open to anyone from any area.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Voices of the Rainbow is an online project packed with fun, heart-warming songs that will put a smile on your face as part of the Rainbow Voices Project.

Welcome Weeks (open to anyone to try us out): Tuesday 13th, 20th & 27th April 2021
The following sessions, on 4th, 11th & 18th May are for those who attend at least one Welcome Week, or have previously attended any of our online singing sessions.

No commitment is required and sessions are FREE, although you can choose to make a donation when you book if you wish.

We welcome singers of all abilities, including complete beginners. No one will hear you sing.

If you haven’t sung online yet, we will be offering technical support along with a ‘cuppa & natter’ from 7.15pm each week, so there’s plenty of time to socialise too. We’ve already helped over 100 singers access online sessions since March 2020, so even if you’re not very tech-savvy we will be able to get you set up quickly.

WHAT WILL WE SING?

We sing a wide range of feel-good music including pop, gospel, musical theatre and world music to warm the mind, body & soul. Many of our songs are well-known tunes such as Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Walking on Sunshine, Mr Blue Sky and Count on Me. Some may be totally unknown and we will introduce you to uplifting pieces from around the world. And others are old favourites from musicals such as Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. We use a mixture of a cappella, piano-accompanied and backing tracks in our arrangements which we find helps our sessions to be fun and accessible to all. The songs will be taught online by The Singing Elf vocal tutors Rebecca & Rachael with Guest Leader Sinead Livingston, and you will have access to everything you need to take part, including word sheets.

IS ANY SINGING IN PERSON?

This project is entirely online, but we hope to return to some in-person singing over the summer.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
Our Tuesday sessions are free, although donations are very welcome. You choose if and what to donate. You can donate during booking, or at any point during the project via our Donate page. Some singers prefer to make one donation at the start, whilst others prefer to donate weekly – it’s up to you. You can join in with the whole project or just drop into the sessions that work for you – we know that life needs to be flexible for us all right now. You’ll be able to listen to recordings of any of the songs you miss in between sessions via our website.

This session is funded by Sunderland City Council, and is open to anyone.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

This is a live online session, you can log on from any location via any mobile device, laptop or computer with an internet connection. It’s quick & easy to download the free Zoom app we will be using. Don’t worry if you’re not very techie – we’ll provide full instructions and guide you through the process. To take part you just need to be able to hear sound from your device, a camera to be seen and microphone to be heard. If you’re using a mobile device or laptop these are often built-in features. Find full instructions of how to use Zoom here
