Winter Warmers: Online Singing

£0.00£15.00

Tuesdays 7.30 – 9pm |  12th, 19th & 26th January 2021
Cuppa & Natter from 7.15pm (plus tech support)

Sing away the winter blues with heart-warming songs that will put a smile on your face. Winter Warmers is a series of three drop-in sessions with Unity Choir starting on 12th January 2021. Come and join in online as a one-off off or join us for all three sessions on Tuesday evenings. No commitment is required and sessions are FREE, although you can choose to make a donation when you book if you wish.

Unity is a mixed voice community choir for adults who love singing but aren’t sure if they can! We welcome singers of all abilities, including complete beginners. You don’t need any previous experience, you won’t be asked to sing on your own and you don’t have to join the choir to take part. The session takes place on Zoom, and you will be sent a link to the session, and links to your word sheets by email when you book.

Winter Warmers will be led by The Singing Elf – Rebecca McGarvie, who will be teaching a wide range of feel-good music including pop, gospel, musical theatre and world music to warm the mind, body & soul.

Funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, has helped us to make this project possible. Thanks to the Government for making this possible.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Sing away the winter blues with heart-warming songs that will put a smile on your face. Winter Warmers is a series of three drop-in sessions hosted by Unity Choir starting on 12th January 2021. Come and join in online as a one-off off or join us for all three sessions on Tuesday evenings. No commitment is required and sessions are FREE, although you can choose to make a donation when you book if you wish.

We welcome singers of all abilities, including complete beginners. No one will hear you sing.

Over the course of 3 sessions, we’ll be introducing heartwarming songs, some you’ll know and some you might not. The songs will be taught online by The Singing Elf vocal tutors Rebecca & Rachael, and you will have access to everything you need to take part, including word sheets.

If you haven’t sung online yet, we will be offering technical support along with a ‘cuppa & natter’ from 7.15pm each week, so there’s plenty of time to socialise too. We’ve already helped over 100 singers access online sessions since March so even if you’re not very tech savvy we will soon be able to get you set up.

IS ANY SINGING IN PERSON?
This project is entirely online. We are always assessing the many considerations regarding returning to in person singing, however, at present our sessions remain online.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
These 3 weekly sessions on Tuesdays are free, although donations are very welcome. You choose if and what to donate. You can donate during booking, or at any point during the project via our Donate page. Some singers prefer to make one donation at the start, whilst others prefer to donate weekly – it’s up to you. You can join in with the whole project or just drop into the sessions that work for you – we know that life needs to be flexible for us all right now. You’ll be able to listen to recordings of any of the songs you miss in between sessions via our website.

Funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, has helped us to make this project possible. Thanks to the Government for making this possible.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
This is a live online session, you can log on from any location via any mobile device, laptop or computer with an internet connection. It’s quick & easy to download the free Zoom app we will be using. Don’t worry if you’re not very techie – we’ll provide full instructions and guide you through the process. To take part you just need to be able to hear sound from your device, a camera to be seen and microphone to be heard. If you’re using a mobile device or laptop these are often built-in features. Find full instructions of how to use Zoom here

HOW DO I LOG ON?
STEP 1: Purchase ticket – you’ll receive the ticket by email with the zoom link & password
STEP 2: Download Zoom – make sure you have an up to date version of Zoom here
