September Tasters: In-Person
New singers are welcome at any of our tasters - each session will provide a gentle introduction into singing with us. Each week, we build on the songs we have learned in the previous weeks. Singers are welcome to switch between daytime and evening sessions to suit their availability as we will be covering similar songs in both.
Find Your Voice Course
Our 4 week Find Your Voice Course is held at Kepier Hall, Houghton and will run on a Tuesday evenings or Thursday mornings:
Brand new singers are welcome to attend the first week of our Find Your Voice but the following three weeks are only open to those who have attended one or more taster session or the first week of the course as each session builds on the one before. Singers will book a place on either the Tuesday or Thursday course, however can ask to switch sessions to suit availability or attend both.
What to expect?
Zoom Sessions: Online
Not ready to join us in-person yet? Join in online on Tuesdays when our sessions will be broadcast on Zoom live from our rehearsal room.
Not all of our singers are able to attend in-person sessions and therefore we also offer the chance to join in online. On Tuesdays 7.15-9pm our sessions are hybrid - broadcasting live on Zoom to allow our online singers to see, hear and interact with the live, in-person session by joining in from their home.

'Pay as you feel' donations
Our Find Your Voice sessions are fully funded by Sunderland City Council, and are FREE to attend. You may choose to make a 'Pay as you feel' donation during booking or at any time that suits you during the project.
Unity Choir is run by The Singing Elf Social Enterprise - we are a local, not-for-profit, community organisation. Some of our projects receive funding but not all of our work is covered. We rely on donations to help our singing continue even when we aren't receiving funding and to support other aspects like our performances, social events and online community. Before the pandemic, our Unity sessions cost £5 per person. We know that for many, the pandemic has made times even harder and we are committed to keeping our sessions 'Pay as you feel' for as long as possible.
Important COVID Safety
Following consultation with our singers and careful consideration of guidance, we have put in place COVID safety measures to protect everyone. Unity is an inclusive choir and many of our singers are more vulnerable to COVID. Our singers voted overwhelmingly to continue using testing rather than returning with masks indoors.
All singers are required to take a lateral flow test before attending
Please visit our website to read more about our COVID safety measures here
