Unity on Tour - Team Hug

Unity is more than just a choir, we are a community of people joined together by our love of singing and determination to overcome barriers. Like any team, Unity have grown together through shared experiences, we have learned that we can trust in and rely on each other.  Like a true family we support each other through what ever life throws at us and stay in touch with members not singing with us currently. The social side of Unity is important to us, it opens up a whole new programme of optional activities that are a life line to some of our members. We're also proud to contribute to those in our community through charity work.

What Unity said:

"Our socials are a great way to get to know singers on a more personal basis while enjoying much needed down time."

"Unity has given me a way to relieve the stress of every day life plus a huge group of friends who are always there when I need them. "

"Unity came into my life at exactly the right time and has gotten me through some pretty dark times. I love my purple family!"

Our Socials

There's nothing we like better than the chance to get together for food, drink and time to natter! Each term we organise a social trip to a theatre or cultural event and hold a meal out for members. We're aware that financial considerations are important for lots of our singers so we always try to visit reasonably priced venues and gain group discounts when possible. Our most recent trips have included the cinema, meals in restaurants and afternoon tea.

Our Charity Work

Throughout the pandemic, many Unity members volunteered their time to support The Singing Elf's COVID response efforts through 'The Singfulness Project', making and delivering thousands of craft packs for our local community.

In our in-person sessions we regularly organise donations to local food banks along with our collections such as our Christmas 'Spread the Warmth' winter coat collection which last time filled an entire car.

In the past we have held events such as a pamper night with The Body Shop at Home raising £150 for Macmillan Cancer Care. We know that promoting awareness can be just as important making financial donations to good causes. In October 2018 we posed with bras over our uniform (men included) for Breast Cancer Awareness and shared our photos along with information on social media.

Unity on Tour

In addition to weekly rehearsals, Unity offer 'on tour' appearances at one or two community events each term. These 'come if you can' opportunities give us the chance to share our singing within informal settings. In keeping with our social focus, we often attend family-friendly, free admission local events which allow us to bring along our loved ones to enjoy a day out. Unity get a lot of invitations but we choose carefully to ensure we don't overfill our diaries. We're always on the look out for new opportunities that might fit into our programme. If you'd like Unity to sing at your event, make sure you get in touch well in advance as we plan at least 3 - 6 months ahead.
