Rainbows Through a Window
New Craft Pack Project
We are delighted to be working with The Cultural Spring, an exciting, ambitious project to get more people in Sunderland and South Tyneside to experience and be inspired by the arts.
We are offering 50 people living in Sunderland and South Tyneside the chance to receve FREE craft packs. By taking part in this project, you will receive 4 different craft packs, full of creative makes and activities for you to do in your home. In each pack you will be able to work with different materials to make a rainbow-themed window craft. At the end of the project, you can combine your makes to make a gorgeous and colourful window display to bring back the rainbow.
To apply for your pack, please complete this short form. You can apply for yourself, or on behalf of someone who does not have internet access. Your details will be shared with Cultural Spring, who will confirm your place in the project.
Who can take part?
We want people in Sunderland & South Tyneside to feel more connected, less socially isolated and engrossed with fun activities.
Do you know someone who'd love to do an activity? Does a friend or family member need a bit more connection?
If you or someone you know would like to take part, and live in Sunderland or South Tyneside, then you can apply to take part by completing this form above.
If you live outside of these areas, The Singing Elf is offering places for 10 volunteers who would like to get involved in supporting the project. As a volunteer, you can support us from the comfort of your own home or you can volunteer in-person if you want.
How the project works
First, complete the form by clicking on the link above. We will send your details to The Cultural Spring, who will contact you to confirm your place on the project.
Once confirmed, your packs will be delivered to you one at a time over a few weeks. You won't need to go and collect them, or order your next pack from us separately.
When you have the packs, you can complete the activities in your own time. You don't need any previous knowledge or experience of crafts - all the instructions and support you will need are included. If you do get stuck, you can contact one of our volunteers for help.
You will be invited to join our Facebook and Whatsapp groups, where you can ask advice, share pictures of your creations and connect with others on the project. This is completely optional.
All of the activities in the packs are free. You don't have to go online to take part, although you might want to share some of your creations on our pages.
What will you make?
You will receive 4 different packs, each one full of different craft activities. You can do these activities on your own or with your family.
Pack 1 - Envelopes: Spend your first 2 weeks exploring a number of paper crafts to fill your windows with uplifting, colourful decorations.
Pack 2 - Wool: Try your hand at wool weaving & learn how to make your own pom-pom rainbow!
Pack 3 - Dreamcatcher: Take your week 3 weaving skills up a level & create a colourful dreamcatcher.
Pack 4 - Hot Air Balloon: Transform a paper lantern into a beautiful hot air balloon, complete with a basket & bunting! Then, learn how to bring all of the elements from weeks 1-5 into a full-hanging display for your windows.
