Our Winter Funded Areas

NE-DURHAM-REGIONS-ZONE-MAP-A4-2021-UPDATE

WINTER NOMINATIONS ARE CLOSING ON MONDAY 8th MARCH

We have been working with local community organisations to get funded Activity Packs to people most affected by COVID-19 in villages around Durham City and Houghton-le-Spring. We still have some available in our funded Zones 1 & 2.

Zone 1: Hetton-le-Hole, Easington Lane, East Rainton & Moorsley
Zone 2: West Rainton & Leamside, Pittington, Littletown, Sherburn Village, Sherburn Hill & Shadforth.

These packs are funded via the National Lottery Community Fund and Durham AAP.

Other Zones

We are excited to be working in Zones 3-6 on our NEW Rainbow Voices Project, starting in March 2021.

We have funding in place to deliver FREE activity packs to people in these areas. If you wish to nominate an individual or community group members, you can complete our Activity Pack Request form, and we will let you know when your Zone opens for nominations. You can also visit our Funding Page for more information.

How the funded packs work

We know that lots of people are having a hard time right now, and we want to cheer up those who have been affected the most. We hope to reach those with an increased risk of loneliness or mental health issues. This could include people who:
  • Are living alone and have limited contact with others
  • Have been separated from their usual support network
  • Have been poorly with COVID or are recovering from it
  • Have had a drop in income
  • Have a chronic illness or disability
  • Have been bereaved
  • Have to self-isolate
  • Are the children of adults who have been affected
  • People who would not otherwise have access to the packs

Our packs are available in two ways:

Through a group or organisation

If you are involved in a community group, charity or organisation that is in contact with people who could benefit from the packs and are able to distribute them immediately. Please complete our form, we will be in touch to finalise details and arrange collection or delivery to one central address. We know that delivery of our packs by a trusted and friendly face is one of the most highly valued things in our project but can work with you if delivery is an issue.

As an individual

Not everyone is involved in a community organisation, we rely on word of mouth to reach those most vulnerable in our community. Please use our form to nominate an individual (one per household). You can choose to request collection from our base in Pittington or delivery.

What's in our Winter Activity Packs?

Our Winter Packs contain 12 creatively mindful activities and will fit through your letterbox. Each of our packs are unique and hand packed by our fabulous volunteers. This can mean that the size, shape and colour of some items may vary. Due to the impact of COVID -19 on our suppliers and deliveries, some contents of the pack may vary slightly to what is shown in the images.

Activities include:

Winter Wreath | Paper Snowflakes | Scratch Art | Tealight Jar | Bird Feeder | Pom Poms | Greetings Card | Colouring In | Mindful Puzzles | Winter Recipes

Contents include an assortment of craft materials along with a glue stick, colouring pencils & sticky tape. Along with items to encourage mindful moments including mini bath bombs, tasty treats and a scented tealight.
